In an effort to boost employee morale and give workers the opportunity to showcase other talents, Guma Valley Water Company (GVWC) in collaboration with Adam Smith International (ASI) has ended a talent exposure competition, which was launched in December 2019. It a competition which allows Guma workers create cartoons and jingles for GVWC communications.

The East, West, and Central Area Offices as well as Mile 13 offices were included in the competition.  They were given the opportunity to develop cartoons and jingles to communicate to the public about Illegal connection, Mobile bill pay, Gender Based Violence, pipe cutting, Deforestation, water conservation, Pay No Bride, and bill payment/disconnection. At the end of the competition, the East office received the most points for winning submissions and became the victor. Issa Kamara from the East office helped to carry them to this victory with the highest individual consisting of four prizes, the worth of 200,000 SLL was given for each prizes, which made him only earned 800,000SLL from the competition.

In her speech at the award ceremony, the organizer, Elizabeth Churchill, from ASI congratulated all the winners and thanked all those who participated in the competition, she praised the participants for their impressive submissions, which demonstrates that they have other talents beyond their Guma work. She assured the winners that their work will form the create concepts necessary to generate future communication messages to be disseminated to the public. She ended by encouraging the winners to share their winnings with their colleagues that help them in their work and also those that did not win.

The Deputy Managing Director, Ing Francis Lahai, who was the chairman for the award ceremony, congratulated all the winners in the competition and all that participated. He gave special vote of thanks to Elizabeth for her efforts in making the competition a success. He further gave words of courage to those that did not win, and advised them that they should put more effort in the next competition, so that they too can be a winner like their colleagues.

The ceremony ended with every winner receiving their certificates and prizes, both individual prizes consisting of 200,000 SLL for each winning submission and 500,000 SLL for the new GUMA Theme song. The winning Area office, East received a trophy and 1,000,000 SL cash prize for being the overall winner
